2023

Norwegian ME Association

Michelle and Natalie presented virtually at the Norwegian ME Association on "Understanding and Managing ME/CFS for physiotherapists", including information about our education strategy

CSP Annual Conference - England

Nikki presented the results of our home-based physiological testing study at the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy conference and took questions from the audience, as well as two poster presentations for our heart rate monitoring survey and vagus nerve stimulation survey.

Karen was interviewed by Physio Update, an independent website for physiotherapists. She talks about how she became involve in ME, and why our book is important for physiotherapists

Hope 4 ME & Fibro Northern Ireland

Nikki and Karen launched our new book and discussed our research to date as part of the "Taking Control - ME, Fibromyalgia & Long Covid" conference. Attendees even received a free copy of our book!

Nikki and Karen were interviewed by David Tuller, a journalist and public health lecturer at the University of California, Berkley Center for Global Public Health, with a special interest in ME. We talked about the formation of Physios for ME and our new book

Karen was interviewed by Rob Messenger, who is undertaking an impressive "500 Miles for ME" challenge to raise money for ME charities. 

Karen talked to Rob about our work, how physical exertion affects people with ME, and what physiotherapists could do to help people with ME.

Michelle presented to a national team of “Physical Activity Clinical Champions” on “when it is not appropriate to exercise”, exploring ME and Long Covid and how to identify post exertional malaise

The Perrin Technique Conference

Nikki presented virtually at the Perrin Conference to discuss our research on physiological testing in people with ME

IACFS/ME Conference

 

Nikki spoke virtually at the IACFS/ME Conference (International Association for CFS/ME) to present our research to date

CSP/RCOT: Let's Talk Long Covid: Dysautonomia

Nikki presented to members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists about dysautonomia and Long Covid 

Northumbria University

Nikki presented to physiotherapy students at Northumbria University, giving an overview of ME and Long Covid 

North West ME Professionals


 

Nikki presented to a group of North West UK health professionals with a special interest in ME, to discuss our research on physiological testing in people with ME

2021

ME/CFS International Conference
 

Nikki presented virtually at the ME/CFS International Conference run by the National Centre for Neuroimmunology and Emerging Diseases in Australia. We had two posters accepted; the physiological testing feasibility study, and our heart rate monitoring survey

The team presented on a Long Covid webinar for student physiotherapists. We covered incidence, demographics and symptoms, what can be learned from post viral fatigue syndrome and ME, fatigue definition and management, precautions about exercise, and personal Long Covid experiences

Paul Wagstaff Commemorative Lecture

Organised by the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists, Nikki led a presentation on "Long Covid and lessons learned from other post viral conditions such as ME/CFS"

2020

Michelle, Natalie and Nikki presented on a live webinar for health professionals; "When exercise isn't indicated but rehab is" aimed at identifying and managing post viral fatigue syndrome / Long Covid

The team discussed the formation of Physios for ME, information about ME, post viral fatigue syndrome, Covid rehab and management strategies

London ACPIN

Nikki presented to London ACPIN (Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology): “Fatigue : Potential Causes, Management and Special Populations Including Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome and ME.”

The team presented: “Post-Viral Fatigue (PVF), Post-Viral Fatigue Syndrome (PVFS) and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME)” to highlight when exercise is not always an appropriate intervention

East Midlands CSP Webinar

Nikki presented to the East Midlands CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy) about post-Covid fatigue, in an event themed on “Community Rehabilitation in the Region”
